Profit from Intrinsically Safe Equipment
Petrochemical plants and refineries are among the production environments most exposed to hazards. An accident can have dramatic consequences and care has to be taken to guarantee safety during all operations. At the same time, plants struggle to continuously increase production profitability. For this reason, the choice of the right equipment is of key importance to assure on one hand the required safety while on the other hand to optimize the process flow and to maximize plant uptime.
"Breakthrough Product of the Year 2010!"
'Processing Magazine' has voted the intrinsically safe weighing terminal IND560x as Breathrough Product of the Year 2010. - www.ProcessingMagazine.com
What are the reasons leading to such an award?
The incredible thing about this product is that it brings into the classified Zone 1/21 or Div 1 areas exactly the same functionality of the IND560 family of terminals. A particular highlight is the availability of solid state active/active I/O that allows for straightforward control of valves directly in the Zone 1/21 Div 1, without any additional PLC and complicated wiring. The IND560x is your gateway to uncompromised weighing in classified areas! Read more about the features of the IND560x at: www.mt.com/IND560x |

Lightning - and your Vehicle Scale |
|
Lightning can take your vehicle scale out of service in seconds. Its one of the most dangerous, natural phenomenons on our planet.
Even when you are covered by a warranty or by your insurance, every day your equipment is out of service causes your business revenue losses.
You may not be able to completely eliminate the chance of lighning striking and damaging your buildings and equipment, but there are things you can do to greatly reduce the damage caused.
Invest in a whole system lightning protection system that covers the entire scale, redirects voltage surges away from sensitive electronics, creating a barrier of protection.
Ground your scale properly. Be sure it is a complete and true single point ground from the existing AC power source.
Load cells should be grounded using braided copper ground strap or isolators.
Peripherals - like indicators, scoreboards and printers - should be grounded directly back to the main ground system. And invest in a good quality surge protector/power conditioner for your scale house or office for your indicator, printer, etc.
Finally, a word of warning - lightning strikes with an average of 30k amperes - and can cause serious injury or death.
Please be careful when working outdoors in a thunderstorm - we can replace your scale components, but we can't replace you!

3 Things To Look at Before Calling for Service |
|
#1 Is it plugged in and turned on? Are the power cords seated fully in the unit?
Yes, it sounds too simple to be an actual troubleshooting step. But our technicians have had to travel 100 miles - one way - for a "the scale is blank!" only to find the unit wasn't plugged in at all. Its actually happened - more than once.
If this doesn't work, try items #2 and #3.
#2 Have you powered it down and then back up?
(Ok, just like with a hung up computer, we don't know why it works, but it usually does!) Just be sure the scale is empty before you try this - otherwise it will cause other issues.
If it doesn't solve the issue, call us.
#3 Is there something going on in the scale's environment that could be causing your problem?
Do you have industrial fans overhead; nearby machinery causing vibrations; scale hooked into the same power circuit as other heavy draw equipment? Air flow and vibration will cause a scale to have unstable readings - having a scale on the same circuit as heavy duty equipment can cause a scale to dim, shut down, etc. (One of my favorite stories is of a scale hooked into the same line as the electric garage door halfway across the plant - opening or shutting the door would cause the scale to blank out - any other time it worked like a champ!)
Try removing one of the suspect environmental items from the mix - does the scale work properly? If so, you have saved yourself a service call.
If not, call us and we'll set you up for in-depth troubleshooting. |

PM being Preventative Maintenance of course.
Your scales are an investment for your company. As with any investment, the goal is to get the most return on your dollar. With production equipment like scales - that means keeping it up and running for as long as possible. The longer your scale remains in use and functioning properly, the less it costs to use!
We perform preventative maintenance on your scales to make sure they stay in optimum operating condition for as long as possible. And so that we can alert you when we see things that can potentially cause your scale to stop working. We want you to have the time to plan what's best for your company - repair or replace?
Frankly, deferred maintenance has the potential for disaster written all over it. EXPENSIVE disasters. It could shut your processes down completely!
So if you haven't already signed up for PM service - talk to your Cech Representative today. Help keep the decision about where - and when - to invest your equipment dollars firmly in your own hands - and away from those of fickle fate! |
