Preventive Maintenance Plans
Tiered PM programs designed around your uptime requirements, compliance obligations, and production calendar.

Why Preventive Maintenance Outperforms Reactive Repair
The maintenance calculus on scale systems is straightforward: the cost of a scheduled PM visit is fixed and predictable. The cost of an unscheduled failure — emergency service rates, production downtime, potentially invalid measurement records, and operational disruption — is variable, unpredictable, and almost always larger. For operations where the scale is in the critical path of production or commercial transactions, the business case for preventive maintenance writes itself.
Beyond cost avoidance, PM visits catch mechanical conditions that calibration alone doesn't reveal: load cell mounting hardware working loose from vibration, junction box seals beginning to fail, cable armor abraded by material flow, platform members fatiguing from repeated overload. These conditions don't produce immediate failures — they produce gradual drift and eventual failures that happen at the worst possible moment. PM catches them early, when the repair is simple and inexpensive.
Cech PM Plan Tiers
Essential — Annual Calibration with Mechanical Inspection
One annual calibration visit with full as-found and as-left documentation, plus mechanical inspection of load cell mounting hardware, junction box seals and cable entry points, platform structural condition and debris accumulation, indicator function, and zero-tracking performance. Simple adjustments — re-torquing hardware, clearing platform debris, reseating connections — are addressed during the visit. Findings are documented with recommendations for any deferred items.
Best for: lower-criticality scale applications, protected environments, seasonal agricultural scales, backup or redundant scales, and operations where compliance is the primary driver and downtime impact is manageable.
Standard — Semi-Annual Calibration with Full System Review
Adds a mid-year calibration visit, extending verification frequency for higher-criticality applications and creating a second annual window for mechanical inspection. Between visits, drift patterns become visible — an instrument consistently arriving at the mid-year check with elevated error at the same test point signals a specific mechanical or environmental condition worth investigating.
Each visit includes a documented system review: indicator configuration and diagnostic log review (where supported), evaluation of environmental conditions relative to the previous visit, and assessment of any operational changes that may affect scale performance. Best for: production floor scales in continuous use, truck scales at moderate-volume commercial operations, belt scales, and regulated environments specifying semi-annual calibration.
Premium — Quarterly Service with Remote Monitoring Integration
Designed for high-criticality applications where measurement accuracy is directly linked to product quality, commercial transaction volume, or regulatory compliance at a level where failure has significant financial or operational consequences. Quarterly calibration and mechanical inspection visits, plus integration with Cech's connected smart diagnostics platform for continuous load cell health monitoring between visits.
Remote monitoring provides real-time visibility into load cell output balance, zero-point stability, and supply voltage — the key indicators of a developing problem before it reaches the calibration threshold. When monitoring detects anomalous behavior between scheduled visits, Cech dispatches a diagnostic call proactively rather than waiting for the quarterly event or an in-field failure.
Best for: Legal-for-Trade truck scales at high-volume commercial operations, GMP pharmaceutical and chemical process weighing systems, batching and formulation scales where accuracy directly affects product quality, and any application where an unplanned failure causes production shutdown or creates regulatory documentation consequences.
What Every PM Visit Includes — Regardless of Tier
- Full as-found calibration data before any adjustment — every test point, every section
- Load cell mounting hardware, check rods, stay rods, bumper clearances
- Junction box: seal condition, cable entry integrity, terminal block and summing board, moisture evidence
- Cable: armor condition, abrasion points, routing integrity, connector seating
- Platform: structural integrity, debris accumulation, approach and exit conditions
- Indicator: display accuracy, zero-tracking behavior, overload and underload protection
- Calibration adjustment to as-left specification with full post-adjustment documentation
- Written service report with findings, actions taken, and recommendations for deferred items
How Cech Builds Your PM Plan
We don't assign tiers from a price list. We start with a conversation about your operation: What are you weighing? How often? What does a failure cost in downtime and measurement integrity? What are your compliance obligations — Legal-for-Trade, GMP, ISO, NTEP? What is the environmental severity of each installation? What is the equipment age and service history?
From that conversation, Cech builds a recommendation matched to your actual risk profile. For multi-scale operations, we often recommend a tiered approach — Premium coverage for high-criticality production scales, Standard for compliance-critical lower-volume applications, Essential for backup and ancillary equipment. Every PM plan includes a service calendar, a documented scale registry for all covered instruments, and a contact structure that ensures the right Cech person already knows your equipment before you need emergency help.
Our Quality Guarantee
At Cech Scale, three generations of German precision and decades of field experience guide every install, calibration, and repair. When our name goes on the work, it carries that lineage, sets the standard we live by, and stands as a promise to perform today and for years to come.
